The BR Class 07 were diesel-electric dock shunters built by Ruston & Hornsby in 1962. 14 were built to work at Southampton Docks, replacing the SR USA steam locomotives. The class were short-lived under BR, being retired in 1977 and passing into industrial use. This was due in part to a notorious issue whereby the axle-boxes would run hot at speed. A total of 7 made it into preservation with the other half being scrapped.
