The Great Eastern Railway built a trio of similar 4-4-0 Classes, named 'Claud Hamiltons' - the S46 class, D56 and H88 Class. The latter of these became the D16/3 class under LNER ownership. These locomotives were rebuilds of the original 2 classes by Nigel Gresley and featured a round-top firebox, some with poston valves. None of the class have been preserved. |
