The Hunslet Engine Company produced a wide variety of small 0-4-0ST steam locomotives for the slate quarries of North Wales. The design incorporated a lightweight locomotive, made for hard work in harsh environments all year round. The locomotives remained in use at such locations from the late 1800s right up until the 1960s. Many can still be seen on preserved lines in North Wales, as well as in England and even North America. |
