GREETINGS.Regarding exhibitions in your area. DEMU(Diesel, electric modellers united)have a showcase right on your doorstep at the Bretby conferance centre in June. The layouts there are based on the diesel and electric era, dont mention steam, you might not get out alive (lol). The standard of modelling is always very high so it is well worth a visit.Checkout http://www.demu.org.uk and click on showcase for more details. In the meantime there is a very good model railway shop in Derby called Trainlines direct(Trainlinesdirect.co.uk) they are more than helpful with advice for the beginner and are quite happy to answer any questions you might have. Also there used to be a very good exhibition at the assembly rooms in Derby, i know it moved last year ,not sure where ,that used to take place around May,maybe someone else can say if it is on this year.Hope this helps in some way, good luck with your modelling . Bit of a trek for you but there is a big exhibition in Doncaster Conference centre (race track) this weekend 13th & 14th. Promising 30 layouts exhibiting. Should be worth a visit

Just back from Doncaster.

The exhibition was very good but extremely busy and the centre simply could not cope with parking or refreshments.

T Gauge??? what dedicatioin to the art although they did put me in mind of Borg implants

One constant theme with the ehibited layouts was the lack of running trains. The exhibitors seemed more interested in fiddling with things in the background than running trains, leaving the layout to be admired but usually empty!

So a message to exhibitors for the rest of the year.

SEND MORE TRAINS PLEASE!!!

Hi Steve, a few others on another forum said the same as you about the crowds at Doncaster,it can be a pain but at the same time it means the hobby as a whole is doing well .I saw Tgauge myself in Scotland last year,it really does have to be seen to be believed.

I know you posted this almost a month ago now, but I've only just noticed it. Has anyone suggested that you visit the Nottingham show on 20/21 March? It's an excellent show and not far from where you live. :D

Derby show in May is very good with easy, secure parking & the Modern Image Show at Bretby Conference Centre in June.

These are near to you and both excellent. Charlie
